The Hobbit will be a trilogy epic fantasy adventure film series , and Warner Bros. announced release dates of all three films, and all three films in the trilogy are productions of 'New Line Cinema' and 'Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer' Pictures.. The Hobbit trilogy will be released in High Frame Rate 3D, other 3D formats and IMAX.

The first film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released Dec. 14, 2012; and the second installment 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' will hit theaters on Dec. 13, 2013; after seven months the final installment of the film will be released, 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again', which is slated for July 18, 2014.

All three films directed, co-written and produced by Peter Jackson, the Hobbit film series will prequel as Jackson's 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy film series (Lord of the rings third and final film, The Return of the King, won the Academy Award for Best Picture); And the Hobbit film based on the fantasy novel of the same title name "The Hobbit" by J. R. R. Tolkien, and he films have for every part by it's subtitle, An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and There and Back Again (2014).

The film script written for screenplay by Fran Walsh or Philippa Boyens, who written script for The Lord of the Rings film series, and Guillermo del Toro with producer, Academy Award-winning for 'The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King' director 'Peter Jackson'.

The hobbit trilogy of films is set in Middle-earth 60 years before The Lord of The Rings, and all three film are being shot in Real 3D and digital 3D with using the latest camera and stereo technology, with principal photography, photography will shot by Andrew Lesnie, at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy star casts will reprise for The Hobbit, Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, and Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug, and other cast including from The Lord of the Rings Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee, Ian Holm, Elijah Wood, and Orlando Bloom.
